London Olympics
The Olympic Games will take place within the vibrant city of London during the summer of 2012 and will run from Friday the 27th of July to Sunday the 12th of August, with the Paralympic Games running from Wednesday the 29th of August to Sunday the 9th of September.

London 2012 Olympic Tickets
Ticket applications for the Olympic games in London 2012 are available online from the official London Organizing Committee website between Tuesday the 15th of March 2011 and Tuesday 26th April 2011. You can also pay by cash or cheque using a paper application form which are available from Lloyds TSB branches.
Non UK residents should contact their own National Olympic Committee or obtain official tickets from an authorised ticket re seller.
Olympic Equestrian Venues
The equestrian events and parts of the Pentathlon will be taking place within Greenwich Park which forms part of the Greenwich World Heritage Site and covers an impressive 180 acres of undulating and beautiful parkland. Greenwich Park is the oldest of the Royal Parks and was a former Royal hunting ground.
- The Main Arena
A temporary structure
is being built on site and will form the main arena for the dressage, show jumping and parts of the eventing competition. The arena will have a capacity for 23,000 spectators.
- Cross Country Course
The cross country course will run around the ancient park, which
will provide the perfect backdrop for this exciting sport.
Travel To Greenwich Park
The park is located on the south bank of the River Thames in South East London and can be easily reached by train, underground, car, taxi or riverboat.
Spectators will receive a special Olympic Games Travel card which can be used on many areas of public transport within zones 1 to 9 and will include the London Underground, London over ground rail, busses and trams.
- Train
Connecting trains to Greenwich Park depart from Cannon Street, Waterloo, London Bridge and Charing Cross and go to Greenwich, Blackheath and Maze Hill which are all close to the park.
- Underground
You can take the Jubilee Line to North Greenwich and then continue by either the number 188 bus or taxi into the park.
- By Car
There will be parking and disabled parking facilities in place.
- River Boat
You can also take a river boat to Greenwich Pier from either Westminster, Embankment or Tower Piers.
Organizing The London Olympics
There are a number of organizations that work to ensure that the Olympic Games are a success;
- International Federation For Equestrian Sports (FEI)
The FEI was formed in 1921 and is based in Lausanne, Switzerland and is the international governing body for all equestrian sports. The FEI approves all specific Olympic equestrian plans sent to them from the LOCOG and BEF.
- London Organizing Committee For The Olympic And Paralympic Games (LOCOG)
The London Organizing Committee works to prepare, organise and stage the Olympic and Paralympic London Games. All the final equestrian details are sent to the FEI for final approval.
- International Olympic Committee (IOC)
The IOC was formed in 1894 and is an organization comprised of 205 National Olympic Committees. The IOC is based in Lausanne, Switzerland and organizes the Olympic Games.
- Volunteer Programme
Application forms to help at the games will be available in 2010. Previous volunteering skills are not necessary as full training is given. For more information contact the LOCOG.
