Burton Leads Badminton After Day One Of Dressage
Christopher Burton (AUS) is the current leader at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials after an exciting first day of dressage.

Burton rode the experienced Holstein Park Leilani to the top of the leader board on a score of 43 just ahead of Sam Griffiths (AUS) riding Happy Times on a score of 43.3.

A lot of attention was on both Andrew Nicholson who rode Avebury today to 3rd place and William Fox-Pitt who rode Oslo today to 4th place who are both in line to win the famous Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing if they can win here and with both riders also having two rides tomorrow it is going to be a very tough competition. Also in equal 4th place is Aoife Clark (IRL) who performed a brilliant test on Master Crusoe to give them a dressage score of 45.8.

Michael Jung the current World and European Champion who also won double Gold at the London Olympics, also impressed riding his first horse Leopin FST today to a score of 46.5 to leave him in 6th position with his highly impressive ride La Biosthetique Sam FBW due in the arena tomorrow afternoon.

Vittoria Panizzon (ITA) riding Borough Pennyz, Lucy Wiegersma riding Simon Porloe and Mary King riding Imperial Cavalier are all currently on equal 7th with Mary's other ride Kings Temptress still to come tomorrow.

Jonathan Paget (NZL) and Nicola Wilson are both equal 11th with Nicola riding the popular Opposition Buzz on a dressage score of 48.2.

However with another day of dressage still to go the leader board is no doubt going to have a few changes to it especially with riders such as Zara Phillips riding High Kingdom, Kristina Cook riding the impressive Miners Frolic, Mark Todd riding Ravenstar, Ingrid Klimke (GER) riding FRH Butts Abraxxas and Sandra Auffarth (GER) riding Opgun Louvo as well as Andrew Nicholson and William Fox-Pitt's second rides all amongst those due in the arena tomorrow it is certainly going to be another exciting day of dressage.
