Nicholson Wins Luhmuhlen
Andrew Nicholson has won this year's Luhmuhlen Horse Trials riding the stunning grey Mr Cruise Control after performing an excellent clear show jumping to remain on his dressage score.
Great Britain's Zara Phillips also had a successful competition riding High Kingdom to also finish on her dressage score and claim second place just ahead of compatriot William Fox-Pitt who finished 3rd and 4th on Neuf des Coeurs and Lionheart respectively.
Australia's Kevin Mcnab moved up the leader board from 10th after dressage to 5th place after Clifton Pinot had an unfortunate show jumping fence down.
Lucinda Fredericks and Flying Finish who were lying in second after dressage finished in 10th place over all after picking up some time penalties on the cross country course and one down show jumping.
The 4* event wasn't without some surprises which included the elimination of Great Britain's Nicola Wilson riding Opposition Buzz who fell at the first cross country water complex which also caused problems for Andrew Nicholson (NZL), Jennie Brannigan (USA), Dirk Schrade (GER) and Ingrid Klimke (GER) who was leading after dressage.
The 3* event was dominated by German riders with Michael Jung taking the top spot on the up and coming Halunke FBW and Dirk Scrade riding Hop and Skip finishing in second place ahead of Ingrid Klimke riding FRH Escada JS for third Andreas Ostholt and So is et and Franziska Roth riding Dictus J for 5th place.
