After an incredibly tense days show jumping the end result is that Germany have won Gold, after being a dominant force throughout the competition and who's leading rider Michael Jung also took a well deserved Individual Gold medal as well riding Sam.

New Zealand took team Bronze and Great Britain took team Silver after excellent clear rounds from Tina Cook, William Fox-Pitt and Mary King with Zara Phillips and Nicola Wilson both having one fence down. The strong German team put in brilliant performances to seize Team Gold, which included riders Michael Jung who now currently holds the European, world and now Olympic champion titles concurrently a feat never before achieved and Sandra Auffarth who took individual Bronze.

The afternoons show jumping rounds to decide the individual medal winners was not without drama with riders Mary King and Tina Cook both having the same two fences down to finish in 5th and 6th respectively and an unfortunate pole down for Andrew Nicholsen cost him a medal to leave him in 4th place.

Sara Algotsson Ostholt for Sweden who was 4th after dressage just missed out on an individual gold medal after her stunning big jumping horse Wega had the last fence down, leaving the pair to take the Silver.

The dressage leader Yoshiaki Oiwa riding Noonday de Conde unfortunately fell during the incident packed cross country phase after his horse unseated him after a steep drop fence.
