The popular event rider from New Zealand has won the 50,000 USD bonus for maintaining his commanding lead of the HSBC rider rankings at the end of his very successful 2012 season.

During this year Nicholson was seventh at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event riding Quanza and was also fourth at Luhmuhlen riding Calico Joe as well as winning the prestigious Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials riding Avebury, and also won Les Etoiles de Pau (FRA) riding Nereo which put him well ahead of William Fox-Pitt in the rankings.

At the London Olympics Nicholson was fourth individually after putting in a superb performance riding the talented chestnut Nereo and also came away with a well deserved team bronze medal along with team mates Jock Paget, Caroline Powell, Mark Todd and Jonelle Richards.
