Hackney Horse
This is an elegant horse known for its high stepping action and use as a carriage horse.

Height
15 to 16 HH

Colour
Bay, brown, black and chestnut.

Conformation

The head is refined and elegant with large eyes.
The neck is long and gently curving and leads onto fairly rounded withers.
The shoulders are sloping and muscular.
A short strong back and loins, and a compact body overall with a good size chest and girth.
The hindquarters are well rounded and powerful and the limbs are long and strong.
A high set tail and a thick mane and tail.

History
These lovely horses were originally used as riding horses due to their comfortable and active paces combined with their handsome looks. Their great stamina, strength and striking high knee action led them to be used as carriage horses.
