Paul Beecher Wins Hickstead Derby
The highly prized Hickstead Derby has this year been won by Paul Beecher (IRL) riding the 13 year old chestnut gelding Loughnatousa W B.

The world famous Hickstead Derby which was founded in 1960 and contains such notable jumps as Devil's Dyke and the formidable Derby Bank is always one of the most popular and highly sought after competitions on the International show jumping circuit.

The course itself has only been jumped clear on 53 occasions prior to this years competition and was famously won by show jumping legend Eddie Macken on four successive occasions riding the bay Irish Sports Horse called Boomerang between 1976 and 1979.

There were only two clear rounds achieved by Paul Beecher and William Funnell who was riding the 14 year old gelding called Dorada who produced a solid clear round to put them through to the jump off which was excellently won by Paul Beecher to claim the 1.60 competition which is sponsored by Carpetright.

The previous day also had plenty of action during the Bunn Leisure Speed Derby which was hotly contested and won by by Trevor Breen riding the ever impressive bay gelding, Beer Hunter who was closely followed by Orphee de I'Illon who was ridden by Ahmad Saber Hamcho.
