Osmington White Horse To Be Restored
The White Horse at Osmington near Weymouth, Dorset is a wonderful landmark which is hopefully soon to be restored to its former glory.
The horse is of George III who was a regular visitor to the beautiful nearby seaside town of Weymouth and was cut in 1808 in his honour.
The horse is cut into the limestone hill and has been restored several times over the years most recently by Anneka Rice during the TV show Challenge Anneka when small limestone scalping's were used to restore the horse and make it white once again.
Unfortunately the scalping's haven't worked as hoped and so a new project to whiten and restore the horse are being discussed. In order for the project to be a success a geophysical survey will have to be done so that the original design of horse and rider can be studied and restored correctly.
