William Funnell Wins The DFS Derby At Hickstead
The Derby was one this year by William Funnell who performed the only clear round riding Cortaflex Mondriaan to finish in first place ahead of Guy Williams riding Skip Two Ramiro and William Whitaker riding Animation II who both finished on four faults.
William Funnell has won this title twice before in 2006 and 2008 and he now joins the select list of top riders to accomplish three Derby wins, which include Paul Schockemohle, Nick Skelton and Peter Charles.
Eddie Macken won the Derby four years in a row from 1976 to 1979 and other riders to achieve four Derby wins include Paul Schockemohle , John Whitaker, Harvey Smith and Michael Whitaker.
